Let’s start with definition of stupid, a person who doesn’t acknowledge the possibilities is a stupid person. Non-stupid person would show ability to learn, listen and ask questions. This leaves very small group of stupid person then question comes why we see soo many stupid people around us. Answer is situational stupidity, it takes time and effort to think and learn so to save it we take shortcuts and show stupidity.
Creating bias is a way to apply shortcuts in order to directly jump to conclusions. We naturally create bias of approved and not approved items which is commonly propagated as good/bad or right/wrong. It’s impossible to evaluate each thing for each scenario and then put it into a category as conditionally. So we take trustful source good/bad items as our own good/bad and live with it. The biggest problem with this approach is that we are not conscious about it, if we are then in a tough situation we might re-evaluate our right/wrong bucket before deciding to fight for it.

In the end I would say lowering ego is the starting point to fix this problem. So that we can evaluate rationally re-evaluation effort and benefit and then decide to do it or not. As a technique for lowering your ego, do activities which create realization that you are no one, you are nothing.
